Join us for Villalovoz STEM Night hosted by Louis J. Elementary School! This engaging evening event is designed to spark curiosity and excitement about STEM for elementary students and their families. Volunteers will help generate interest in STEM activities and careers through a fun, hands-on experience.

Volunteers can choose from two options for their booth or activity:

Option 1: The LLNL Science Education Program (SEP) will provide all materials and instructions for a fun STEM slime activity.

Option 2: Volunteers may bring their own hands-on STEM activity or demonstration. Simply share your idea with us — we’ll review it to ensure it complements the event and offer any support you need.

Want to motivate and encourage youth? Employees are invited to volunteer for the STEM Day at the Lab event on Friday, April 17.

STEM Day at the Lab was established to emphasize the importance of expanding awareness to high-quality science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and computer science education, particularly among our local communities. The event’s goal is to instill an awareness and passion for STEM by exposing students (grades 5–8) to science and technology in an organizational setting, and to provide them with access to seeing and experiencing STEM-related careers.

You will be contacted by the area lead with the specific volunteer roles and responsibilities for your assigned area. Please note, some timeframes overlap as volunteers are needed in multiple locations at certain times.

Dream Day is an outreach event that is filled with interactive learning sessions, networking and hands on activities to expose students to different areas of Computer Science and Engineering.

Note - All activities will be held in the University of California Livermore Collaboration Center (UCLCC) and Livermore Valley Open Campus (LVOC), so badges are still required for LLNL employees. Dream Day Schedule 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Volunteers are selected on a first come, first serve basis. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Volunteers will help engage attendees through interactive STEM activities while promoting environmental awareness and career pathways.

Join System Overload Robotics, a student-led, community-based high school robotics team, as a volunteer mentor or advisor supporting students in engineering, science, project management, and business operations. This opportunity offers meaningful, longer-term engagement with motivated students who are expanding their robotics program and outreach efforts.

We’re seeking LLNL volunteers to serve as technical or business mentors, with particular need for guidance in grant writing, budgeting, and financial planning, as well as engineering and project management support. Volunteers may participate in a one-time session or on an ongoing basis, depending on availability and interest.

This is a flexible opportunity well-suited for volunteers who want to make a deeper impact by mentoring students as they develop technical skills, leadership, and real-world problem-solving experience

This is a unique opportunity to mentor students in a real-world, student-driven robotics program, support equity in STEM through community outreach, and help young leaders grow both technically and professionally.
